Here we are, back at the beginning. It’s sunny and it’s cold and we are in the year 2025 somehow.
Weird.
Happy New Year, though!
New years often have us thinking about changes. I’ve told you I’m not a fan of resolutions, but as this world changes, I will change, morphing my shape like a mobile in the breeze.
What that means, exactly, we shall see.
No worries, though, this space will still be here. I may or may not continue with ads, they are benefitting only the advertisers at this point, it would take decades for them to pay out at this rate.
So I may play with other ideas. Who knows.
This year, I think we should focus on bending in the high winds. If you try to stay too rigid, you’ll just break.
This is a year for looking inward to some extent, nurturing yourself, nurturing your roots so when the storms come, you have something to keep you upright.
I have no idea why there are people who only want to make the world worse, who like to do harm, who enjoy the harm, who want to take everything other people have, including their joy and their peace of mind.
But we have to acknowledge those people exist.
And we have to acknowledge more of them exist than we want to admit, than we ever wanted to see.
I know we’re all walking into this year with those people on our minds. How can we not, one of them killed others in New Orleans; another blew up a car in Las Vegas. Someone else was caught with the largest cache of completed bombs the FBI has seen.
When donald spoke of a “really rough day,” these people took note. It seems they fixed their own dates for it.
What some don’t seem to see is these wheels were set in motion a long, long time ago. There have been stops and blocks and and diversions along the way, but it would have taken the strength of more people to get us off these tracks, this outcome looming as though it was inevitable.
It wasn’t inevitable.
But we failed to avoid it.
Perhaps the hardest part was watching the people who should have stood with us block the exits from the tracks. That’s tough.
That’s going to hurt for a long, long time.
So.
Time continues, January arrives, the sun rises and sets and will do that when there are no people left to see it. That we are ephemeral bits in the vastness of space time is oddly comforting to me.
Things happened before us; things will happen after.
So what we have is now, and in this now we can make the best of it for ourselves and the people we care about.
Have a great day and as smooth an entry into 2025 as possible.
