It’s gray and we’re slated for rain, and it’s another day in a string of days because that is how this works.

Unless it’s just the same day, over and over, and we’re the people in Groundhog Day who never caught on. One the one hand, it may be better that way.

On the other hand, maybe I could have learned to play the piano by now.

My hair DOES have a lot in common with Andie MacDowell’s, come to think of it.

But I digress. From what, no, I’m not entirely sure either.

Yesterday, after my post about my ongoing, intractable annoyance, Arthur Grupp (@ArthurGrupp on Spoutible) said this:

i have learned that “embracing the suck” is the best way to deal with it! Then Press On Regardless! ✊🏻

And I’ve thought a lot about it since. Fighting things seems to be where we waste most of our energy. Fighting what is; fighting what was.

Accepting that things suck, and are going to be uncomfortable and not fun really can help take a chunk out of it all.

I mean it’s not like we have to enjoy it, only see things for what they are and press ahead anyway. The wishing and hoping gets us nowhere, as much as we want it to work.

So.

That is what I will do today. I will embrace all that sets me on edge, and, despite it all, I will press ahead anyway. There is much to be done, and it has to be done either way, so why make it harder on ourselves?

There are enough people who aren’t us doing exactly that.

Let’s try it. If only for today.

And have a great Tuesday.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
