It’s gray and maybe rainy, I can’t quite tell. A little above freezing.

How very Monday of it.

Yesterday I had one of those days where I didn’t want to do anything but ended up doing a bunch of things anyway, and instead of being gratified by getting things done, I was just annoyed.

I’m at a base level of annoyed, everything’s annoying.

It might be my mood but it also might be because everything is annoying. That which isn’t terrifying, at least.

I’m sure this is part and parcel of one of those grief stages, as we try to make sense of the sledgehammer to anything truly American. When the supposed Secretary of Defense is more concerned about russia’s interests than ours, well, I’d say we’d hit peak absurdity.

But we are the moviegoers yelling “don’t go in the basement”; we are behind a camera lens and a screen telling the zebra to watch out for the hyenas.

In the midst of making more coffee to see me through this post and beyond, I tore the page for today’s calendar and it says, wildly appropriately: “Is ‘done’ an emotion? Because I feel it all the time.”

That’s bold choice for a Monday, calendar. Good job.

Ah the siren beep of the coffee. I will be but a moment. Actually from your perspective it will be like I was never gone at all.

See? Writing magic.

I have no idea how long these moods will last, maybe they will be as volatile as the weather. We’ve had enough movies and shows about the apocalypse, you’d think we’d be entirely prepared for it.

But if you watch any of those wilderness survival shows, you learn even the people who think they are experts aren’t prepared for it.

And we’re no experts. Well I’m not at least, maybe I shouldn’t speak for you, maybe the apocalypse is your jam.

I like to amuse myself. It pokes pinholes in the ennui.

All I can tell you is this: It’s Monday. And I’m annoyed by everything that has the ability to annoy.

And you might be saying, “Yes. That’s called Monday.”

Oh well, that’s enough complaining for the morning, at least here. I hope if we can call out our grumps together, maybe they’ll get a little less grumpy.

Or maybe the concept will only make us more grumpy, who’s to say.

Either way, I hope you have the best Monday available.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
