It’s sunny now, but we are due some rain later, supposedly. I don’t mind it, except the impending weather makes me tired.

The impending a lot of things make me tired.

We’re all tired these days.

My daily calendar reads as follows:

Sometimes I just don’t feel like getting out of bed. Then I remember I have people to piss off and prove wrong today.

Nice encouragement, calendar. Nice encouragement.

We’ll all feel that, the swings from tons of energy to feeling like a drained battery. Maybe largely because at that point we are a drained battery.

And it may be more pronounced now, now with huge stakes in every single thing in front of us. Now when the things we’re juggling might smash into a million pieces upon impact.

That’s a lot to keep going, all day, every day.

The spider I wrote about on Monday is back, though its entire storeroom was wiped out. It’s swinging and twirling in the wind, rebuilding, even after all it had was gone.

Maybe its elaborate dance is creating another delicate, complicated web; maybe it’s dangling by a single thread, waiting out the wind, I’m really not sure, I can’t see, now that the sky is that weird pale with a tinge of blue.

In the beginning of January, our webs were definitely starting to teem with things, and by the end of it, they’d been torn away, and it has only gotten worse.

That’s not catastrophizing, that’s not hyperbole, that’s a statement of what has happened.

A nation of laws is a nation of the lawless, largely because of everyone accepting it is so.

The spider didn’t accept the webs being gone.

The spider started again.

However we got here, whatever the scale, the truth is, we’ll probably have to start again.

I don’t know if the spider knows what it lost. Do spiders have memories?

Probably not even google can answer that one.

One of our gifts and curses as humans is that we do have memories. And they can haunt the present, they can hamper the future.

But as we tackle today, lets do it one of two ways. Let’s either work on our delicate, complicated webs or let’s dangle on our threads, waiting out the wind.

Either one is OK. Whichever you need.

Have a great Wednesday.
