My internal barometer was right, it’s a rainy Thursday. Last night, I heard the rain hitting the windows with big, fat drops.
Plunk, plunk, plunk.
Now that the rain’s here, I have a little more energy, I’m not heavily weighted like I was yesterday. Physically at least.
Mentally, well…we all are.
Apparently Vice President Harris gave a speech, her first since our tumble into the abyss. Here it is for you:
I haven’t watched it yet, but saw a few images of her remarks in this post.
What struck me is this quote: “In the face of crisis, the lesson is don’t scatter.”
It’s a hard lesson we always seem ready to abandon. “Don’t scatter.”
We have a majority, really, if you look at who supports what. But people being so wrapped up in getting everything they want the exact way they want it seem always ready to take the “nothing” of all or nothing.
And inevitably it’s the people who have security no matter what happens who do it. Who can be safely anonymous, who check the right boxes.
Who see their liberalism as a form of largess that can be revoked at any time.
Now we also now there are a lot of people who don’t actually tick those boxes who believed that they were close enough, but now we also know, close enough is not there.
Close enough is not safe.
As I like to say, there is always another set of doors beyond those doors.
Don’t scatter.
I hope we can learn what needs to be learned and pull ourselves back from this brink.
Well.
I’m I’m being honest, pull ourselves up from the side of the cliff on the slender rope from which we’re dangling.
I know there are some people we’ve seen who say that no matter what happens they’d never have voted for VP Harris. And those people have a hatred that will cook them from the inside, dissolve them like acid.
Wait and see.
But the ones we don’t see, the ones who finally, finally understand what they’ve done, maybe it’s time for those lessons to stick.
Don’t scatter.
And have a great Thursday.
