It’s cloudy, relatively cool for August, and our air quality still isn’t great. It’s not as bad as it’s been, but it’s not great.

Not much we can do about it.

I’ve gotten to the part I’ve been waiting for, the part where I don’t have to worry about this enormous thing I’ve been worrying about for ages upon ages. No more prep, no more sorting, no more logistics. There are some winding up bits here and there, but beyond that, this huge mountain disappeared.

Poof.

Right in the middle of a Wednesday.

All the ideas I filed away for “later,” all the projects I’ve thought about but didn’t dare touch because I couldn’t give them their deserved attention.

Now I can.

I honestly haven’t fully processed it yet.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has had a constant drumbeat at the back of their minds, always there, always present, and then, one day, it’s gone and not even in a bad way. It’s time to adjust to the silence.

There is also the aspect of not having talked about it here as it happened, it simply seemed like something not for the wider world until it was complete. Some things are like that, aren’t they, things you don’t want to wear thin or make them disappear completely because you talked them out of existence.

That one may just be me.

Speaking of obstacles, I saw that Lisa Murkowski is lamenting going along with the budget bill for some reason I couldn’t bother to continue reading, because she is always doing the wrong thing and then acting as though it wasn’t her fully informed decision.

I will never understand why pretending you are not capable of doing your job is supposed to be an excuse or a justification, but in talking about it, someone pointed out she is a villain.

And agreeing with that, I dubbed her Madame Milquetoast. A name I feel is so perfect for her bland form of appeasement, I had to share it. And try to get the AI to make an image of it.

Never has anyone so mildly handed over a hammer to destroy a nation. Of course, all republicans are responsible, and they could end this at any time–at ANY TIME, they have the votes–but at least a chunk of them make no pretense about what they’re doing.

Except that whole gutting Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security thing. I remember when they called Pres. Biden a liar in a State of the Union for saying it aloud.

Well will you look at that, it turns out I still have plenty to worry about, condo or no condo.

Woo. Hoo.

Anyway, that is enough fambling is what I was typing, and I’ve decided to keep it as “fumbling” and “rambling,” for a Monday morning.

I wish you a lovely day and a great start to your week, and above all, don’t be a Madame or Mister Milquetoast.
