It’s definitely chilly and getting colder. Which reminds me, Land’s End is having a huge sale if you need a coat, winter gear, sweaters, whatever. Just an FYI.
Today we have a bit of sun and a bit of cloud, and I’m working to gather my thoughts.
Some days, it’s herding cats, as the expression goes.
Lately, though, I’ve found myself trying to build shoddy brick dividers in my head, to wall in or wall out thoughts. Horrible things we see constantly, all day, every day, trying to not allow them to take over my entire mind.
Still they knock, relentlessly.
And then the ones already in there, tell-tale hearting themselves into a constant background rhythm.
Now is not the best of times.
Many of us don’t feel like our best selves.
Many of us don’t feel like ourselves at all.
I am no expert, but I think the only way to deal with it is to get through it. Some things wash over us like a relentless ocean, battering us against rocks, slicing us deeply, and the end result is nothing like we were.
This is going to harden us. Whether we want it to or not, in so many ways. We’ve seen it already, we no longer even hear the people who brought this upon us suddenly realizing they also brought it upon themselves.
We all have our own journeys.
The ocean will do what the ocean will do, we cannot control it, we could lose our voices yelling at it.
Maybe our best bet is to break it apart, separate it into droplets, until it isn’t an ocean at all. One little splash at at time.
Water wears rocks, but can rocks wear the water?
We might as well find out.
Anyway, that’s it for me on this Thursday, I hope you have a wonderful day.
