It’s a very gloomy looking day, chillier I think but maybe not by much, and it is taking all the willpower I have not to crawl back into bed and call it a day at 10:42 am.
I mean, that’s fine, right?
Right?
We got two of the 4 pantry doors up yesterday, after some seriously meticulous planning, and it seemed to have paid off, because two of the hinges did exactly what they were supposed to do, right away.
We went back and forth about changing all of the upper cabinets, and I really like the light wood so I was for it, but when we held up one of the pantry doors, which should have been the right size for the longer cabinets, we saw that it wouldn’t fit. The holes in the door itself for the hinges were too far apart for the cabinet.
Sigh.
Even though this door is only one inch wider.
So we’ve decided to change the other shorter set of cabinets, so all the shorter cabinets are wood, and that’s only one more set of doors.
But the pantry is looking great. It’s been a tough project, including trying to get the old hinges of the pantry, but then I got annoyed and attacked them with a screwdriver, sending them flying as I pried them off, and that was pretty satisfying.
Only a bit more to go. We’re changing the handles on all the black cabinets and drawers–the wood won’t have any–so in all, not a terribly pricey refresh. And I don’t have to stare at the rows of mugs that were messy no matter what I did or the bowls haphazardly piled.
Sometimes a little change can take a lot of effort, physical and mental. But I believe it will be worth it in the end.
And that’s what I’m sending you off into Tuesday with. Have a wonderful day.
