It’s pretty warm for January, and we’re supposed to get rain today. Or at least we were as of yesterday.

We know how that goes.

Today it’s a mess inside my head. It’s not that things have gotten worse, per se, but that they are relentlessly, consistently, obstreperously terrible.

It’s like we had a slow-moving disaster coming toward us. We warned about it. We saw what it was like when we had a direct hit last time. This time we insisted it was better to avoid the storm altogether, but that is not what happened.

Nope.

We gave the storm the fuel it needed to intensify and worsen, without means to slow it down.

And now we are in the storm.

We’re going to have to ride it out.

Because nuking a storm, as someone foolhardily suggested, will not work.

If ever there was a time to keep our wits about us, it’s now, and remember that everything public is public. This is a climate many of us in the in the US haven’t experienced before.

This isn’t about “obeying in advance.” This is about not letting our reactions rule our actions.

We don’t want to play the part they’re writing for us in their script. If you’ve ever dealt with a narcissist, for example, you know that they have a specific idea of how they want things to go, and if you don’t say your line and say it correctly, there are consequences.

We should attend another theater entirely.

Hmm, that’s one of those things that sounds deep but doesn’t really give much substance. I mean we need to reject the way they are herding us, so that their violence becomes more credibly excused, be smart and keep our eyes on midterms.

The House’s margin is already barely a margin, and it’s starting to show.

Anyway, that’s it for me today, have a wonderful Thursday and let’s try to get our thoughts in order.
