It’s sunny but cooler, and I even saw there’s a risk of snow tomorrow. It says there will be rain, but I don’t see it right now.

Doesn’t mean it won’t show up.

Thank you so much, Gail, for the coffee! I definitely needed the pick-me-up yesterday. You always are there to give a boost, and I so appreciate it.

And thank you, Deb, for the coffee! I’m so glad I can motivate you, especially while trying to motivate myself as well. These are days when it’s very easy to get stuck.

So I was going to write about being stuck in infighting, but honestly I bored myself with the first half a sentence about it. Don’t we know better by now?

The other day I saw something mocking people for how they’re processing what’s going on. And all I have to say is this:

Not everyone knows everything.

I tried to simplify that to “no one knows everything” but it just doesn’t hold the same meaning. I feel like we have to make room for growth and learning.

I’m not talking about the obvious things, either. There is no excusing not knowing the true basics of how this country came to be, the conscious decisions made in the shaping of it, the legacy of violence and bigotry.

You can take exhibits out of museums and plaques off of parks but it doesn’t erase what happened.

Ask Lake Lanier.

And if that’s something you don’t know, and you’re someone who lives here, then it’s on you to educate yourself and at least get a general understanding.

So pointing any of that out is not what I mean. That’s a basic tool for comprehending where we are, how we got here, and what moving forward might look like.

Even if we all accept the same basic facts, some among us want to dissect and divert attention away from what was said to how it was said, or focus on personalities rather than commonalities.

Like I say about wasting energy blaming or ranting or bashing Democrats when you could put that energy toward republicans, I say the same about this.

Honestly I think it’s a way to try to exert a little control in a situation with absolutely none. A little hit of the good stuff by feeling like you are in a better position than someone else.

I will tell you this.

You are not.

Pick on grammar; pick on someone having a hard time wrapping their brain around anyone actually wanting any of this; pick on someone who says something in words differing from the words you would choose, but none of that, absolutely none of it, is going to help or change anything.

Perhaps that is the point.

This isn’t about anyone or anything specific I’ve seen, it’s about a “vibe” as the kids would say. Or would have said six months ago or whatever.

And it’s one that shows up before drama breaks out again.

The drama isn’t stress relief. It’s fracturing.

What we need is to be unshakeable in our common goal.

A world steeped in good.

Not evil.

Good.

And the path is not paved in pettiness.

Have a great Thursday.
