It’s sunny but pretty cold (21F, -6C) and while we got a little snow yesterday, I don’t think we ever actually hit blizzard.

Not that I mind.

As many of you already know, I recently got a sewing machine. I’m completely new at it, and made my first actual project yesterday:

Floral fabric bag with pink roses on a pink background, resting on a soft, dusty pink surface. The strap and the turned-over top edge feature a contrasting blue floral pattern.

I don’t have my iron yet, which is evident, and it doesn’t actually fold down, that’s to show the lining.

It was a lot of fun, and took all my attention, as many new skills do. And that’s really the point.

If ever there was a time to occupy your brain, it’s now.

It doesn’t have to be sewing, of course. For me, an unexplored, infinite universe beckoned; there are so many things a person can make. It can compliment other hobbies as well; the possibilities are vast, and the learning curve both steep and accessible.

Few things are like that.

It’s a skill I definitely thought was missing for me, though. And I can see so many paths opening ahead of me.

Which is cool.

Now is a prime time to sink yourself into something new. There is so much we can’t control, give yourself the gift of something you can. Or at least you can try to, and have fun on the way to it.

That’s it for me for today I’m late enough as it is, I hope you have a great Tuesday.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
