It’s sort of sunny and sort of overcast and very cold. The sky is pale enough that you can’t really tell what’s sky and what’s cloud.

Hmm.

So I’m sitting here, in front of my computer, thinking, “well, I should write something.” And still the cursor blinks. It blinks and blinks and blinks.

Today the world feels like an overflowing laundry basked filled with nothing but frustration. Yeah, I don’t know why I used “laundry basket” either, I’m not carrying the simile through with types of laundry or problematic stains.

Clearly I thought about it though.

Which brings me to a t-shirt I bought before the election with a design similar to a well-known spot remover. It says “Vote. It removes stubborn orange stains.”

I can’t bring myself to wear it anymore.

This orange stain is permanent.

Look at that, I guess I did carry it through.

I’m trying to get myself in line with reality, in line with what is actually happening, but it’s a heavy soil cycle with the fastest spin there is, and I won’t lie, it’s disorienting.

It’s intended to be disorienting.

Ruminating on how we shouldn’t have gotten here in the first place isn’t helpful, it cannot be turned into anything but sadness and regret.

I’m trying to get my entire mindset, my entire being into now. Because only when we are fully, and I mean fully, in now, can we determine what comes next.

The past is getting far enough away that we can no longer reach out our fingers and nearly touch it, nearly pull it here with us. The timelines have diverged, and this one is ours, no matter how we feel about it.

So.

No more yesterday. No more what could have beens.

It’s time to face what is, straight on, shoulders back, head up. We don’t have to like it, we won’t like it.

And start to focus. What will be your area? What will be your sliver to keep an eye on? If we all do that, if we all keep our slivers, if we all don’t try to scatter our energy, but take our part and weave ourselves into a whole, that is how we form our own safety net.

That’s it for me this Wednesday, have a great day.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
