It was sunny yesterday morning, and then dramatically stormy, and then there was a rainbow and then it rained some more. And today, we’re sunny again.
The volatility feels appropriate.
Today is a write paragraphs and delete them kind of a day. Directions it turns out I don’t want to take, things it turns out I don’t want to say.
The post is never written until it’s written.
Lots of background thoughts, a flood of them, really, or more like a current, as today’s fresh horrors bob along with the flow. It’s crowded between the shores, truth be told, there’s much to absorb, much to avoid.
Much to disdain.
So it goes in August the year this country all falls apart.
Or so it seems.
I think we need to reorder our mindsets here and now, and understand that these times are not normal times. We are grasping the very last threads as it all unravels before us.
They’ve already proven they’ll do anything, they have no limits.
We can see that, with our own eyes. How can we make ourselves safe? How can we make others safe?
These are questions I don’t know the answers to, and I’m not sure if you will either. Most of us have never watched this happen in real time, we’ve seen it flattened, compressed in books, the spoilers only a few pages ahead.
We had so many opportunities not to be here, so many, and yet here we are. People with very limited imaginations shrugged and wondered what the worst thing that could happen might be.
I hope, sincerely hope, we never get to worst.
I’ve had a real education in human nature over the last ten years or so. A serious eye opening about who most people are, what they will accept and what they will tolerate, and why they’ll do that.
In who will take the first opportunity to shrug off the restrictions of morals and humane ideology, and who will take the second or the third or join in when it feels like there will no longer be any social consequences for doing so.
An onion with a rotten core.
As we move forward, these are the complex factors we need to consider. What may have worked last year isn’t even in the same room as the table this year, let alone on it.
Those doors are closed.
Anyway, that’s it for me for today, have a great and thoughtful Wednesday.
