It’s somewhat sunny, pretty warm for December, and Democrats have managed to force a vote on the expiring ACA subsidies.
Not too bad for a Wednesday morning.
Since we’re talking about the House, everyone who isn’t leaving is up for reelection in 2026. And now, when people’s health insurance premiums quadruple because the government is no longer providing subsidies, the ads will write themselves.
“Did your insurance premium go up? Thank your republican rep, Blank! Here is Blank voting NOT to extend the subsidy that made your health insurance affordable!”
Cut, paste, repeat.
Four republicans gave the White House’s schnauzer, mike, the old single finger salute and voted with the Democrats.
I guess after what, 15 years or so, republicans finally unveiled a healthcare “plan.” I am not sure what was in it, but I know it won’t do a thing to help any Americans but the corporate ones.
After a quick look, it’s basically a whole lot of nothing.
Anyway, the end game is apparent. The perpetual toddler, donald, is furious that the name that was supposed to be pejorative–Obamacare–has stuck. Not one to stand for people getting credit for their work, it’s apparent he wants it to be called “trumpcare.”
There’s some government site about it, I won’t link to it, I won’t quote it, I won’t click it.
But it will be what one would expect of his care, which is profitable for him, disastrous for everyone else.
January premiums will not be subsidized, that much appears to be clear. And donald seems to be trying to run the government like everything comes out of his pocket, maybe because he thinks it is. After demolishing an entire wing of the White House with no approval from anyone, he is certainly acting like he owns the place.
Anyway, 2026 is coming, looming like rolling clouds, bringing either a cleansing storm or just a lot of lighting and thunder.
But that storm will certainly be easier when there is no way to deny what republicans have happily done to their consitutents.
That’s it for me on this Wednesday. Have a great one.
