It’s cold but about to get much much much colder. Some of you are already dealing with it, and I hope you’re warm and safe. I’m going to make some things to block the drafts (old socks or stockings, fill with whatever you have around…more old socks, cut up old sheets, excess scrap paper, paper shreds, tie, flexible draft blocker!) we get around the windows.
Low cost and free are always the best.
I am not the happiest of happy campers, which you probably know from yesterday, and the news of the world isn’t aiding in that at all.
Everyone knows what I mean.
I said on Spoutible this morning that the bedrock of cruelty as some kind of “morality” is what is wrong with this country, and I’ve been thinking about that. We are a nation founded on harm to the people who were already here while committing to, in our founding documents, the subjugation of the very people who would build a nation.
But we’re not supposed to talk about that or something. We’re supposed to pretend that the very ideal of building a nation is somehow bigger than how it got built.
If you put anything on a faulty foundation, eventually it’s going to show.
That’s where we are right now, and what might have looked like small fissures way way back have become vast canyons. There is no escaping it.
And as I say frequently, plenty of people knew it was wrong at the time.
Plenty of people know it’s wrong now.
Pretending it contains some kind of lofty ordainment doesn’t change a thing.
Unless or until we address the truth and reality of how we came to be here, we will not escape it.
That’s it for me this Wednesday, have a great day and stay warm!
