It’s very gray, I think it’s currently raining, it’s difficult to tell, and that is supposed to turn to snow this afternoon, which means ice.

I hate that so much.

I mean they get out there and take care of it but I am not a fan of skating rink roads, ever since a freezing night several years ago where the car slid and slid and slid like a slow-motion horror movie.

It was OK though.

But it can get like this:

Luckily, we’re a little flatter around her. Still. Also it doesn’t sound like anyone was hurt, so at least that’s good.

And the air temperature seems high enough that ice may not form. I guess we’ll see.

But that’s not where I was going today. Well, definitely not the Great Wall, though that would be amazing, I’d love to see that, but not the snow and ice, either.

In the spirit of attempting not to wallow, today I am sharing what I think is actual wisdom: crack yourself up.

At least once today.

Only you know what will really do it, and yet we do so little to amuse only ourselves. Well sometimes other people too, in the fallout. It’s the best kind of fallout.

If there’s a good kind of fallout.

Let’s stop talking about fallout.

Whatever it is, the sillier the better, it’s a good thing to give yourself a laugh, to perform for no one but you.

It’s fine if no one else would think it’s funny. That’s almost the point.

Think of it as a mini form of self-care. As a way of connecting with yourself we don’t really think about that often.

And I don’t mean you should laugh at yourself in any way that would make you feel bad if someone else was doing it. I mean genuinely amuse yourself.

It may be more difficult than you expect, but it shouldn’t have to be.

Let’s take the brightness where we can find it. It certainly won’t be the sky, as it’s definitely raining now.

Anyway, that’s it for today, have a wonderful, giggly Wednesday!
