I couldn’t tell you what the weather was like, not by looking. It’s very sunny, we had 70s over the weekend (about 21) to 30s (-1) and though today I would have guessed it was warmer, it’s 35 (2 F).

Quite the wild weather ride.

Before we get started, than you so much, SueAKANana, for the coffees! I am so glad you enjoyed my story (the link for anyone who missed it), there is a special energy, I think, when I do one of those prompted stories. Even the late words seem to give it needed shape. I’m really thrilled you enjoyed it!

And now we must all resign ourselves to Monday.

I had one of those mornings where I was in the shower and thinking about the state of the world and by the time I was done I was ready to crawl back into bed.

I didn’t though. So I call that a battle won.

Speaking of battles, I’ve had two separate issues already with my sewing machine. The results looked similar but the causes were different. Like so much of life.

The first one, the bobbin wasn’t correctly installed. The second, a little more subtle.

I think I’d loosened the presser foot somehow. And on top of that, changing thread, when I wound the bobbin, the thread I was using broke. I figured it could happen, unwound, and tried again. Broke again.

I still used that spool and I think it shed a whole bunch of lint. So I got to clean out the bobbin case for the first time ever. I also got to remove and reinstall the needle for the first time ever.

This hobby requires more mechanical upkeep than I imagined, but I guess I don’t mind that, not entirely.

The stitches finally look right. I am going to replace the needle when the ones I ordered arrive, though I doubt I’ve done enough sewing yet to dull it. Still, seems like it could be the final piece.

Battle won?

Too soon to tell.

We have so many of these little skirmishes that pop up, don’t we, unbidden, sometimes into an already bumpy day. Some we win; some get the best of us no matter how we try to to beat them.

That seems to be life.

But.

There is nothing that says we can’t try again. And again. And again, if we want. If it’s worth it to us.

Anyway, that’s it for me this Monday, I hope you have a wonderful start to your week.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
