It’s very gray, and will probably snow later, at least that’s what it says. We’re well into those dark winter days, the ones where you need the lights, even at around 9 am.

Short days made shorter by the gloom.

I was stirring my coffee, and when I stopped, the liquid kept going, a tiny creamy brown whirlpool, and I thought of how many things in the universe there are spinning and spinning and spinning.

The moon around us; us on our axis and around the sun; ourselves, often, round and round and round again in circles.

Maybe that’s the basic state of nature. Even atoms and their spinning electrons, which aren’t actually “spinning” but that is too much for my brain to handle on the amount of coffee I’ve had.

Maybe everything is a circle, maybe the entire universe is a coffee cup, and we are in our own tiny whirlpool.

I’m not sure if that thought is comforting or terrifying.

There is an underlying dread to my days lately, a nagging feeling that something is wrong. And of course, something is.

And of course, that’s something we cannot control, let alone prevent.

It feels like we’re taking a huge arc in a circle backward, back to where no one should ever want to go, but maybe, maybe, if our universe is a coffee cup, maybe it was inevitable.

I’m not sure if that thought is comforting or terrifying.

Maybe history repeats itself because we have no choice, our spin is our spin, our orbit is our orbit.

Who’s to say.

They’re just random thoughts I have while stirring my coffee.

Have a great Thursday.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
