Another sunny day. This is starting to be a habit.

My mom used to bake bread all the time, like it was nothing, this, that, and this, and then it was in the oven rising and baking like a loaf out The Little Red Hen. My dad cannot eat commercial bread, largely, due to various things.

So he got himself a bread maker, and lover of gadgets that he is, he has embraced it fully. We pored through listings and models and settled on one with a heating element at the top and the bottom.

I recommend something like that if you’re in the market.

As you may or may not know, I enjoy baking, and to bake there is just nothing like butter. It adds flavor in a way no other fat really does.

He makes his bread with oil, usually, but he ran out. So he used butter.

And, of course, it was magnificent.

Butter isn’t the healthiest choice, given it’s saturated, but by the time you divide how much you use among all the servings in a loaf of bread, you’re likely having less than a tablespoon.

There was nothing wrong with the bread before, he enjoyed it. But making that one little change made a big difference to how much he enjoyed it.

Obviously this philosophy doesn’t apply only to bread. There are so many things that might be fine, might be adequate, but if you tweaked them only a little, might suddenly enhance your day.

The type of exercise you choose, or doing a quick, low impact YouTube workout if you don’t usually move around a lot. Over a bit of time, you’ll be amazed at how everything seems to be functioning better.

Organizing a cabinet that is always inconvenient, no matter what you try to take out of it.

Prepping your coffee the night before (this is one I can’t seem to do myself but I know it works for a lot of people!)

Setting aside a window, even if only five minutes, every day for a creative pursuit.

Whatever it is, find that thing that is annoying or fine or merely adequate, and transform it to improve your day. Suit it to you, instead of you to it.

It often doesn’t take much.

And that’s it for me, have a wonderful Tuesday.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
