It’s hot again today. Not as hot as yesterday, at least not yet, but possibly on its way.

Another good day to stay indoors.

I was in a really good mood earlier, making good progress on an ongoing project, when someone made a comment and POP! All the air rushed out.

You won’t see it online because it wasn’t online and the specifics aren’t really the point here.

It’s the bubble bursters.

You know the people, who will, as though they’re saying something in good humor, as though they are making a joke for you to go along with, will take something you may be in the middle of, something you may be done with, something you may only be starting, and they’ll say…that thing.

And like a needle right through the optimism you’d built up, out it all goes. Even an apology doesn’t really fix it, it doesn’t take you back to that feeling of pride and excitement. When that’s gone that’s gone.

I think we’ve forgotten what it is to treat other people with care, because in this currently place where we find ourselves, that’s viewed not only as unnecessary, but piteous, pathetic, silly.

Even in these awful times, we all still have feelings. And every tiny bit of good needs to be nurtured, cupped carefully against the wind like a fragile spark.

Not carelessly–or perhaps gleefully–blown out.

Don’t worry, I’m fine, it’s just one of those things where my mood was better and now it’s not, but that will equalize.

I know I’m not alone in these kinds of moments. I also hope, if you are one of those balloon poppers, whether deliberately or not, you take a little time to think about it before you do it. In the same breath you can say something encouraging, supportive.

And we all need that these days.

Anyway, that’s it for me on this Thursday. I hope you have a lovely day.
