We’re still incredibly, wildly hot, with the warnings persisting. I continue to watch the world from inside.

It’s cooler here.

Yesterday we got some placating slop from the “conservatives” of the Supreme Court while they dished it out with a healthy dose of freedom poison. The quotes because it’s such a polite word for such cruel, egomaniacal, sadistic, greedy people.

Also, for a group that rattles on about “personal freedom” until everyone’s eyes glaze over and you just wish there was another path to get to the bathroom but they’re literally standing in the way and there’s not an inch to get past unless you can suddenly walk through walls and that would be nice, for that group they sure like to tell other people what to do.

There is no bigger hypocrite than a republican. Than a conservative. Than an “originalist.”

My anger has not subsided. At them or at the people who got us here.

Whether it was people who didn’t believe this is where we would end up, or they didn’t care, that’s hard to know. The ketchup was on the wall, bloody red and full of rage.

The lesson is clear. Bad people will never do good things. They will never to the right thing. And this idea of trying to make bad people feel better about themselves has served no one.

Character matters. Somehow we’ve let go of that over the last decade, perhaps because it’s easer not to have to be a person of moral courage. It’s easier to cut corners and not make any inconvenient effort.

But a society is all about inconvenient effort.

Sometimes uncomfortable effort.

And we’ve exchanged comfort for everything else. Including comfort.

Anyway, that’s it for me on this steamy Wednesday. Have a good day and stay cool and hydrated.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
