We’re hot, sure, but that may not be the worst of our problems today. Nope, we have smoke from the Canadian wildfires, and the air itself is gray.
Outside activity is not recommended.
But before we move on to where Thursday is going, thank you so much, Heather, for the coffee!! You have left me precious few clues, so if I usually know you by another name, you have out sneaked me! But I truly, truly appreciate it, it’s a spot of sunshine in all this gray.
And now Thursday.
Last night, out of nowhere, I got nostalgic for a time that never was. I guess when you get far enough away from the past, everything gets fuzzy.
Maybe that’s what’s happening now, people who think that there was a time that was perfect, even if they didn’t notice it as it whizzed by them, here and then gone, like the scenery in the way back of a station wagon with fake wooden panels.
Now we see it through the impenetrable window of the television, the glass only one way, forever and ever and ever.
Oh how that glass smooths things over.
That’s what happened to me, in a split second of watching Kate & Allie, a show I decided was worth another round, especially while doing other things.
And sometimes I can’t believe the words they have coming out of those characters’ mouths. Like Kate excusing a male politician’s philandering, pointing out how most of the most prominent male politicians philandered, and drawing the conclusion it was irrelevant to doing the job, something to be overlooked. That he was still “a good man.”
I mean.
If ever anything could snap me out of the backward glance moment, it was that. And to give that perspective to the character of Kate. As if.
My mom used to say that nostalgia is history with the nasty bits cut out.
Was she ever right.
Anyway, that’s it for on this Thursday, I hope you have a fantastic day.
