It’s sunny, still warm and apparently we all woke up in a John Candy movie where we’re at war with Canada.
Seriously what the actual lunacy.
Today I really wanted to write about how, on this trip, I talked to so many people from so many places, how, away from the internet and unrelenting news there is life and maybe even a little hope and a lot of green space.
But I’m not feeling it.
I was feeling it.
But I’m not feeling it. Maybe another day I will tell you about how my dad and I were rescued by a fireman, though far less dramatically than it sounds, as I struggled to maneuver the luggage cart into the elevator and he watched on with patience, knowing exactly how to do it, and then finally offering to do it himself as the door buzzed.
I gratefully accepted.
I don’t know what he thinks about the world, but I do know he got us and our luggage into that elevator.
I guess I did just tell you.
Small encounters like that made me think about broader humanity, but today, today I feel like a tiny cog in the machine with all the other cogs in the machine and maybe we’re all just going to turn how we’re going to turn.
Sitting here, on our pins, the payoff running one way and one way only.
It was refreshing, being out there. But now, home, it was a bit like dramatic irony, unfolding before us, only we are not the audience who can see the outcome, who already knows.
That audience is the great arc of time.
I left you with hope on that last pondering and I don’t want to take that away, but there is a new boldness to all that is happening that concerns me.
Anyway, that’s it for today, I guess this is some of the bad that comes with getting my fresh thoughts on the day they’re hatched. They’re up and they’re down.
Today, a bit more down.
That’s it for me on this Tuesday, I hope you have a great day.
