Though he looks like an ox,this guy is a goat. A very, very large goat.

IMG_0117As I’m waiting for the miracle of coffee to kick in, I’m sitting here, window open, a slightly damp light breeze coming through. I think it’s going to rain.

This morning is quiet, no banging from the units beyond, no horns or sirens from the streets. Just the quiet drone of cars, and the occasional roar of a motorcycle.

Why do motorcycles have to roar?

Anyway, I’m trying to get my brain out of first gear, but the clutch is stuck. So let’s do some random photos instead!

Some of the zoo pictures I never posted, other pictures, whatever catches my eye from my very deep hard drive. We’ll find out which pictures those are together!

Sorry for any weird formatting of the photos, they’re not cooperating. So they’re not in any particular order.

This one was sitting right by the glass inside. But when the building closed he came outside where the people were.

This gorilla made me sad. The zoo gorillas often make me sad.

    1. Doesn’t it?! It’s crazy, it’s enormous.

  2. The takin (or Himalayan goat) is, apparently, the national animal of Bhutan. No word as to which country has the leavin as it’s emblem.

    1. Ha! It’s really enormous, the picture doesn’t do it justice. It must live high, it’s got quite a layer of fur.

  3. That’s quite educational about the goat. Gorillas in zoo’s always make me sad too. Some days I feel like that.

    1. I know, I agree. But SloopJonB said that if their breeding program is good, the animals are happy, and there are always new babies there. Still, the expressions on their faces.

      1. Defining happy is like trying to nail jello to the wall. 🙂 Those expressions just kill you. My kids would have it when I made them do homework. Torture.

      2. Mean Mom! Forcing children to do their homework. Next thing you know, you’ll be telling them to make their beds.

      3. Being told to make your bed isn’t too bad … until they give you a hammer and a load of wood first …

  4. Love the photos. I always wonder what the Gorillas are thinking about.

    1. Me too! Next time I want to show the gorilla the photo and see if there’s any interest (if anyone is right by the glass).

  5. Love the picture of the light peeking through the trees 🙂

    1. Hi Joy! Thanks…believe it or not, beyond that rise is an extremely busy street! You’d never know it from there.
