I’m taking a little break from writing for a couple of weeks, but I didn’t want to leave you with nothing to read, so for ten posts, I’ll share with you my Top 10 Ponderings of the Universe. Is the order meaningful?

Your guess is as good as mine. Today: A possible future .

As we end this series about my ponderings, there is one that is front and foremost, almost a constant drumbeat in the back of all thoughts. I wonder about it even when I’m not thinking about it directly.

How it will all turn out.

How all of this will turn out.

I like to think that it’s possible that time will rise like a tide and wash all over all of the awful, making it nothing but a blip, floating away from experience but not forgotten so it can’t be repeated.

Over our journey these two weeks, we’ve talked about a lot of things, but at the core of them all is possibility. We don’t know everything. We cannot see into the future, no matter how hard we try to do it.

But that’s not necessarily a limitation.

Maybe that’s a gift.

Because if we don’t know, with certainty what is futile, what will do nothing, what will not help, how does it harm us to try?

Maybe there isn’t futility in the world. Maybe, instead, there is potential realized and unrealized.

Maybe this moment in time doesn’t dictate the next or the one after that.

For centuries upon centuries, people have wanted to know what is to come, but it’s just not something we have in our skillset.

But if we’re not locked into an outcome, then we’re not locked into an outcome.

And with that, I wish you the very best of Fridays and the most relaxing of weekends. I’ll see you next week.
