It was gray when I sat down, even raining I think, but the clouds seem to have broken up a little. Maybe it’s only momentary.

The bland gray suited my mood today better.

My headache is largely gone, though I am often the last one to know if I have one. August, too, is largely gone, so they have that in common.

I’ve been rewatching Psych, a show I’ve always loved, but this time around, Shawn is irritating me in a way he hasn’t in the past. I’ve always dismissed the antics as comedy but in a world being destroyed by manbabies, it’s not much of a joke.

Also there have been a lot of problematic people on that show, and mentioned on that show. It’s almost uncanny.

For me, the heart of Psych is the lifelong friendship between Shawn and Gus but this time, I wonder at it. What does Gus ever get from Shawn? Why are they even friends?

Shawn is pretty narcissistic and maybe it’s something more clear now, now that we see the fallout from indulging in it.

I don’t know.

Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s my mood these days. But I’m still going to finish the series and rewatch the movies and hope they really are coming out with another one.

Maybe my issue is that it’s such a time capsule, that show, with pop culture references that still work and many that now sound like nonsense. “Gags” that were somehow OK at the time–though I’m not entirely sure about that–versus now, where they stand out like an out-of-tune gong, and everyone waits for the tone to end.

And, spoiler alert if you’ve never seen it and don’t want to know what happens, but this time through I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why Juliet would dump Declan for Shawn.

Again, maybe it’s me. It’s only a show, written by humans, who decide what the characters will do and what they will say.

It’s possible I’m putting too much thought into this, picking apart something I’ve always enjoyed.

Or maybe things, most things, all things? have a shelf life.

What do I know? It’s just a Monday at the end of August in a year going much faster than I expected, though I felt exactly this way last year.

Anyway, that’s it for me on this now cloudy-again Monday. Have a great day.
