We’re supposed to have dangerous heat today, though it’s not so much the temperature but the humidity, as far as I understand it. I think the weather didn’t get the memo.
It’s September.
We’re supposed to have that clean crispness in the air. I felt it the last day or so in Maine, and noted the colors on the trees had shifted between our drive out and our drive back. Chicago has other ideas.
Alas.
I love autumn, but not so much winter. One always precedes the other though, an unbreakable rule, at least here on this planet in this corner.
Today autumn feels far away, but it will show up, it always does, and before we know it, I’ll be writing about snowflakes and ice and harsh gray skies.
Time is slippery.
I saw a post today from a regretful trump voter, and even while admitting she’d made a “mistake”–I’ll get to that in a moment–she had to add “I’m not saying Kamala would have been better.” First of all, the unmitigated gall of this random woman or “woman,” you never know on twitter, using the first name of the former Vice President of the United States in that casual way, but secondly, by her very own admission…
How could she not have been better?
And it wasn’t a “mistake.” A mistake is something that you do inadvertently, accidentally, without knowledge of what the outcome might be. She very deliberately chose to vote for a man who couldn’t have been clearer about what he was going to do and the way he would abuse his power.
It wasn’t a mistake.
It was a deliberate.
She just thought she’d be free from the consequences somehow, magically.
But there she is, one of his marks, and as I said over on Spoutible, I think he has even more contempt for them because they fell for it.
Now they’re in the same sinking boat with the rest of us, watching the yachts they thought they’d be on, sipping champagne, pointing and laughing, sailing away into the sunset.
Boo. Hoo.
Anyway, that’s it for me on this Tuesday, I hope you have a fantastic day.
