It’s not raining for the first time in days, and the construction continues. So that’s fun.

I may be able to will it into background, let’s see how it goes.

You never know what you can do if you just look at things differently. My bathroom is teeny tiny, and I mean teeeeny tiny, it is a little square into which I’ve squeezed every additional storage option available to humanity.

But something wasn’t working.

I have a corner shelf shaped like a pie wedge that’s four tiers I think. It’s metal, it was originally for my little shower, but it took up too much room and I was concerned it would rust despite all the product promises it was above such foolishness.

Well it turns out I, not it, was right because I utilized its soap dish in the shower and rusting it is.

Anyway, I kept my hair towels there, on one of the shelves, rolled. If you have curly hair then you know, we need microfiber, and these wrap your hair and then hold with a button.

They kept falling on the floor when I’d brush past.

At the vast other end of the bathroom, under a wall towel rack, I kept my extra toilet paper in a pretty fabric basket. It sort of worked, though, I will admit there was one roll that took a plunge from which there was no recovery.

This morning, I had an idea. I have some hooks on the wall, but there is a lower one I never use. What if I put the toilet paper in…a pretty tote bag?

And it turned out I had just the one. It is cheery with big lemons, has short straps, and fits three rolls and still closes. I lined it with a 2 gallon Ziplock (small bathroom, much moisture) and suddenly I had a fabric basket for my hair towels right under the towels (who am I, Martha Stewart??) and a free shelf on the storage unit.

We’ll see how it works in the long term but it feels like a win. Also how awesome are tote bags?!

All it took was thinking about it from another angle. I don’t know what your toilet paper/hair towel dilemma is. Maybe it’s also toilet paper/hair towel. Maybe it’s not about fitting things into a small space at all.

Whatever it is, pause. Assess what you have, whether tangible, as it was in this case, or not-so-tangible, and see if maybe the pieces can fit together if you do it another way.

Anyway, that’s it for me this morning (and it’s really morning!). Have an excellent Tuesday.

Buy me a cup of coffee!
