I’m taking a little break from writing for a couple of weeks, but I didn’t want to leave you with nothing to read, so for ten posts, I’ll share with you my Top 10 Ponderings of the Universe. Is the order meaningful?
Your guess is as good as mine. Today: Haunting ideas.
I don’t know if you’ve ever had the experience of looking at a photo and immediately getting that creepy feeling. The place looks…wrong somehow, inhospitable. You don’t even want to look at the image, let alone visit the site.
Although some people actually do want to visit the site, and I guess good for them?
It’s interesting how so many people have the same feelings and experiences with the same places. Next thing you know, there’s a full-on “haunting,” whatever that might mean.
I’ve felt that, and then immediately looked up a place only to find out it has a history.
It’s a collective experience, shared by many, though maybe not all, and yet we can’t seem to agree on whether it’s real or what it even means.
For the people who have never experienced that deep, uncomfortable sense, almost like a nails on a chalkboard but not heard, somehow, it sounds ridiculous, impossible.
Ghosts are a notion best left to Halloween and tourism for some.
But there are so many things we don’t know about the universe and how it works, there so many things, even how in this big bold year of 2026 for which we have no answers.
How do we know whether they exist if we can’t see them? Touch them?
Capture them?
We really love to capture things, don’t we?
