Another sunny one, a little less warm, and we’re still wading through the labyrinth of my dad’s appointments. Today is home health, which he has twice a week for a dressing that he needs to change twice a day.

The system is the system.

Luckily he can do that, as it probably doesn’t surprise you to learn it doesn’t exactly fit my constitution. I am a wimp.

The system is the system.

The nurse is there with him now, and I have to say I like fixed focus she gives him, and her attention to detail. I don’t know what I was expecting for home health but she is a proper nurse doing a proper nurse’s job.

Twice a week. For us at least.

I have no idea how many other households there are, how many other patients, how many other issues and routines.

This is a maze complete with its own minotaur, that fear and anxiety and uncertainty. Hopefully each and every visit puts more distance between us and it.

I’m not a fan.

But what is there to do aside from one foot in front of the other, as best we can?

I mean that’s pretty much all there is for any of us. Whatever the door that heaving, nostril-steaming beast bursts out from.

I guess the trick is to avoid the blind alleys however possible, though I certainly haven’t figured that out yet.

Maybe we need more flashlights. Or mirrors.

Anyway, that’s it for me on this Wednesday, and whatever the origin of your own minotaur, I hope it keeps it distance and you have a fabulous day.
