#TuesdayThoughts #ChatTuesday: The emptiest crayon box.

Standard

It’s very gray and supposed to be hot again, into the 90s. Right now, though, it’s not terrible.

This morning I saw a story about a baker who refused to make a pink cake with blue icing because he learned that it was to celebrate a trans customer’s journey. This same baker in a previous case claimed he wouldn’t discriminate against LBGTQIA+ potential customers.

I thought “Thou shalt not lie” was a big one but whatever.

With these people, it’s like looking at the big box of crayons of every shade you can imagine that is the world and saying “just give me two colors.” What a bleak existence.

Not to mention the hypocrisy, because you know they pick and choose what they follow, and when they violate those rules they’ve chosen, they claim they’re flawed and ask for “forgiveness” and then they do it again.

I have no sympathy for them. I don’t see any reason not to hold them in the same contempt they hold the rest of us who don’t follow their ridiculous, improvised “religious” beliefs. Of course they will cry victim, as they always do while standing on the necks of others, whining and sobbing about how the neck hurts their foot.

They have been given far too much room in our culture, in our society, in our nation. Their outsized presence colors everything, from celebrations that have absolutely nothing to do with them to books in schools to healthcare decisions of people they will never meet.

Enough. No more smiling and nodding. No more being polite. It’s time to call a bigot a bigot, loudly, without hesitation.

Their “religious beliefs” do not make them good people. They do not even make them moral, and when you boil it down, religion is a set of moral codes to help to corral an unruly people.

They are no better than anyone else. Their beliefs do not have more value, their ideas do not carry more weight. They are just people using something meant to be a conversation-ender to win an argument.

Enough is enough, the religious creep into public life has to stop and it has to stop now. And we start by voting out all of the people using it as a means of control.

Because that is what it is.

And with that, I wish you a lovely Tuesday with cakes of any colors you choose.
