Ten Word Photo Prompt: Sailing

Standard

It’s ten word photo prompt time! Using the above photo, write a ten word story. Yes to titles; no to titles as long as the story.

You can post here, on your blog, whatever floats your boat (GET IT?? BOAT?? BECAUSE IT’S A PICTURE OF A…never mind). Just make sure you leave a link so we can find you.

OK, and so here’s mine:

“Only a few hours,” he replied, his smile saying otherwise.

#WednesdayWisdom of keyboards.

Standard

My lamp has arrived! The only lagger is my chair. Oh my lovely, lovely chair.

And probably another keyboard because this one and I are still having issues. Many, many, many issues.

I’m trying the laptop keyboard on the keyboard shelf instead…maybe it’s better?

Not totally sure.

Perfect keyboard, I know you’re out there.

Somewhere.

But the lamp is warm and inviting, I’m a big fan. You can change the color of the light, too.

I know the perfect set-up is close. Very very close.

I did have some hand/wrist pain yesterday after using the other keyboard, and I thought maybe it’s just a matter of getting used to it, but I think the hunt is on for another keyboard.

I’m sure you’re fascinated with this endeavor.

You may or may not know, it’s incredibly cold here today, and it looks like a tundra outside. Barely any cars, ripples in the bright snow…of course it’s beautifully sunny. A sun with no warmth, but sunny.

Hopefully this will be comfortable enough to get some writing done, we’ll just have to see. I hope you’re having a warm and cozy Wednesday, unless you’re in a hot-weather climate, in which case, your foresight is admirable.

#TuesdayThoughts include why am I having so much trouble typing today.

Standard

My fingers are all tangled or something, because I am not typing very accurately this morning. I’ve had my coffee.

I have no excuses.

Still adjusting to the keyboard I’m using in the desk, so maybe that’s part of it. It’s very fancy, but I’m not sure I like the touch of it.

Which is what happens whenever I start with a new keyboard, so…I’m fickle

At least about keyboards.

I shifted it a little, I wonder if that will be a plus or a minus.

We’ll see.

Accuracy hasn’t improved, though.

Took me three times to get through “though.”

Aside from my typing troubles, we’ve got bright, lying sunshine, as it’s about 9 degrees and not likely to get much warmer. This week, weather-wise, is supposed to be the stuff of weather legends.

Not in a good way, though.

Strike that on the sunshine, the clouds are coming in. They don’t look like they mean business, only like they want to add a little gloom to the cold. It’s not like that isn’t the right tone to set.

I’m still awaiting the arrival of my desk lamp, which will make it so much easier to work once it gets dark, but I’ve got to say, even with my makeshift chair with it’s makeshift padding (old yoga mats have many uses!) this is already a vast improvement on my previous writing situation.

Still not sold on the keyboard though.

I hope your Tuesday has fewer typos than mine. Onward we go.

Can I hear a “Monday??”

Standard
  • Snowing far more than I expected today. Check.
  • Fuzzy sweatpants. Check
  • Dalek “PROCRASTINATE!” t-shirt. Check.
  • Blogging from my newly-revamped amoire desk? CHECK CHECK CHECK.

I’m waiting on a new office chair for my writing comfort, and a desk lamp for my seeing comfort as I discovered late yesterday afternoon that once it gets dark, my black keyboard becomes invisible. Of course I spent at least 15 minutes this morning perusing Amazon for non-black keyboards, but this one is barely used and it’s very, very nice. Not sure about the action on it, every keyboard takes a little adjustment.

And this one has two tilt levels, so it offers a lot of adjustment. Go keyboard.

So I guess what I’m saying is Monday is here and I am ready for it. At least until it gets dark. Turns out, I probably need more lamps in general. The dollar store fake candles I used yesterday didn’t quite cut it.

Gotta say, it’s a cozy little nook in here. Even more so once I cut the darkness. And my fingernails. What is happening there?!

I’m inspired to write and ready to work. I think the time away from the computer was well worth it, I’m excited to get back to my imagination after being so firmly lodged in practicality.

Happy Monday to you, I hope you’re warm and snug wherever you are, and have an amazing week.

#AccountaClub Friday, January 25, 2019

Standard

Hello AccountAbles!! It’s AccountaClub time, and let’s get into how it’s all going.

As you may or may not know, my big project for this week was making my armoire desk an inviting place to work. I’ve cleaned it out (VHS tapes, anyone??) taken out the old desktop computer that still has a 3.5 inch floppy drive, and managed to detangle the wires, which was, perhaps, the most onerous part of the job.

I mean what is it with wires? The moment I got them straightened out, they tied themselves in knots again.

I’ve got a surfeit of wires I don’t know if I’ll ever use or are needed in the 21st century and a bunch of stuff to take to Half-Price Books, where I’m sure I’ll receive a sum princely enough to purchase half a book.

But it will be gone, and that’s the key.

The only step left is the contact paper, which I’ve started and will wrap up today. So it should be done! Oh and I still have to get the stick-on light, but I’ll get that this weekend.

And I’ve got to tell you, I’m already excited to use it.

I’d like to get one of those white “leather” executive chairs, but one thing at a time.

Exercise-wise, I’m not going to lie, this week was HARD. Every single workout, except today’s Body Art flow, was a real struggle.

But.

I did it.

Five down.

OK, friends, how was your week?

Ten Word Photo Prompt: Miscalculation

Standard

OK so you know how this works. Using the photo above, write a ten word story. Exactly ten words. You can have a title, but don’t go overboard.

Post here, on your blog, wherever. Just leave a link so we can find you!

Here’s mine:

About twenty feet up and falling fast, she thought, “oops.”

#WednesdayWisdom but who am I kidding?

Standard

We’re plowing forward through the week, figuratively and literally, as we’ve had some snow again today. It’s gray and flat and I have an appointment later and I’m trying to decide if I should drive and risk the parking.

Parking can be tough in the winter around here.

It was supposed to get sunny but that seems unlikely. I’ve heard weather prediction is also affected by the shutdown; I would believe it. I was told it was raining as I watched it snow.

I’d really love to make it a sweats-inside kind of day. But alas.

Nope.

So I completely finished yesterday’s list. Today I’m being a little more loose with my scheduling, and though I wanted to do running-around errands, I don’t think that’s happening today.

Silly weather.

No earth-shattering insight from me today, my insighter feels like it’s on the fritz, but I hope you’re having the most incredible of Wednesdays.

#TuesdayThoughts but barely

Standard

Yesterday was a blurry blur and, well, I have a confession. You know my Marie Kondo glee, my (zing!) joy at opening my drawers and seeing the order within.

Well.

It turns out that folding laundry takes forever.

Forever.

For. Ev. Er.

Perhaps it will go faster the more comfortable I get with her methods, but wow, it was slow going and I’ve yet to put everything away as there’s still more to fold. Either Marie spends her entire existence folding, or this is why she encourages people to get rid of everything.

At least you don’t have to fold books.

I went to bed early last night but still felt tired this morning when I got up, and my workout was a slog even though the trainer was fun. It’s flat gray outside right now, everything muted.

It’s definitely not giving me an energy boost.

Neither is my coffee. Is it a two cup day?

Maybe.

So I’m off to get going with my to-do list, which, as they say, is as long as my arm, but in this case that might be literally true. Or it feels literally true.

But that’s my blog post, so that’s one thing done. Check.

Have a marvelous Tuesday.

Zippy Monday

Standard

Monday seems to be moving at the wrong speed. I glanced at the clock and can’t believe the time…I haven’t even posted my blog yet for the day.

Obviously, I guess, because I’m writing it right now. But by the time you read it, it will be posted, so we’re back in one of those time loop things.

I assume.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the best.

Until I get my place to the point I want, I’ve decided to refresh my desk armoire, a word spellcheck refuses to know. What does it have against hidden storage, I wonder.

Side note: in a full fit of Monday, I’ve reheated my coffee in the microwave and have forgotten complete about it. Huzzah.

Excuse me for a moment.

OK I’ve returned, and brimming over with projects. So back to the desk.

I’ve never enjoyed the “working in a closet” aspect, so I’m going to brighten the interior with contact paper and some dollar store wall stickers that are more fun than they sound. I also had a suggestion to add a stick-on light to make it warmer, which I thought was genius. I think it will be a lovely place to work when I’m finished.

So that’s my big goal for the week, along with all the usuals. I hope you’re having a great Monday, and a fantastic start to the week.

#AccountaClub Friday, January 18, 2019

Standard

So it’s Friday again and it’s been another week that feels like about three years. I’ve been purging, purging purging, and now I have a big pile of donations I’ll be taking to a charity shop in a little bit.

I’m hoping to to beat the snow that’s supposed to be coming. How much? Like so many things these days, that’s unclear.

Yesterday, I went through a bookshelf. I have many bookshelves and many many many books, something that should surprise exactly no one. Apparently in one of the episodes of “Tidying Up,” Marie told a woman to get rid of all of her books, which raised a scandal and rebellion.

I skipped that episode because the woman was trying so hard to be cheerful and was clearly so very, very sad, I couldn’t watch it.

So I remain un-enraged.

But I looked at all of the books in that bookshelf and realized most of them didn’t, in fact, bring me joy. Also libraries exist.

After the apocalypse is complete I may regret this choice, but I suspect I wouldn’t have much time for casual reading anyway, what with the trying to stay alive and the zombies and the whatnot.

The exercise went well, though the site was glitchy again. And that’s my week.

How was yours?
