#ChatTuesday #TuesdayThoughts: Take the open window, but only metaphorically.

Standard

It’s dark and rainy today, though as I write that, it brightened up quite a bit. We should get more storms like we’ve had, with lightning and thunder, but I think there’s supposed to be a break in the middle.

Excellent.

There is construction in my vicinity, so close I can feel the drill. When they workers are going, the noise is like it’s inside my head, which, yesterday, with a weather-induced migraine, wasn’t exactly the makings of a good time.

But right now, it’s quiet.

Right now, I can not only hear my fingers on the keyboard, but I can hear my thoughts.

Well, I could. The hammering is back.

Which I guess either underscores or weakens my point, dealer’s choice. Ah, there’s the drill.

Still, there was a bit of a break long enough for words to form in my mind; as long as there’s something there, I can grasp at it, straw-like.

That’s the thing about windows. We never know how long they will be open, how fleeting they may be. If I were a cynic, I would say this round was timed just to mess with me while writing. Who am I kidding, of course I’m a cynic.

But I actually think they’re trying to be as considerate as they can, given that tearing things apart and putting them back together is a noisy process, no matter the subject.

The noise can vary, of course, if it’s ourselves we’re deconstructing, then it’s those invisible critics who follow us around. Maybe not the same pitch as a drill through…cement?! but still not the best thing to have rattling around your head.

Hmm I think my other work from home neighbors just gave up. I honestly can’t say that I blame them.

Anyway, that’s about it for me today, all the thoughts I can form. Everything else is all drill.

We’ll call that window firmly closed.

Have a great Tuesday.
